Environment

Preserving the ecosystem of the Rio Pongo

Responsible mining is our contract with nature. We apply rigorous protocols to minimise our ecological footprint, from water management to dust control on our logistics routes. Our progressive rehabilitation programme ensures that every hectare worked is restored to its original biodiversity, or converted into fertile farmland for local populations.

Community impact

At the heart of our host communities

We are not neighbours, we are partners. AGB2A-GIC invests heavily in basic infrastructure in Boffa and the surrounding villages.

Community life in Boffa — Social cohesion within our host communities is central to our CSR approach.

Education

Recruitment and funding of community teachers, reinforced educational support and distribution of textbooks in the schools of affected communities.

Health

Support for local health centres, awareness campaigns and a health response plan deployed during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Water & Energy

Community water boreholes, delivered under the statutory community development levy.

Health & safety

Safety first, performance second

No ore is worth more than a human life. We enforce the highest safety standards (HSE) on all our sites so that every employee goes home in good health, every day.

Watering the tracks to limit dust — Regular watering of the tracks limits dust on the routes passing through the localities.

Briefing before every shift

No team starts work without a prior safety point.

Dust under control

The access tracks are watered regularly, particularly on the approach to villages.

Continuous training

The teams are trained continuously, with the support of the ONFPP for community dialogue.
